We are excited to announce the updated HSFA Flag Top 10 Rankings for both the Girls and Coed Divisions, following an exciting beginning of the NFL Flag Tournaments across the nation.
Season Status and Ranking Factors
The season is in full swing, with 9 of the 14 Fall regional tournaments now complete. Our rankings are based on performance and participation in official NFL FLAG events.
The Factors Driving Ranking Movement:
| Ranking Factor | Description & Impact |
| Early Qualification Advantage | Some teams that took advantage of an early qualification tournament have secured their bid and gained a significant strategic advantage. Their ranking is high and stable, allowing them to focus on honing their game without the pressure of a must-win situation at later regionals. |
| Small Field Help | Some teams were helped by smaller tournament fields in certain age divisions. A strong performance in a smaller field can secure a qualification bid and an initial ranking. These will be harder to hold. |
| Limited Regional Opportunity | Highly-ranked teams who have had limited opportunity to compete in their specific regional qualification tournaments have seen minimal movement. Their ranking remains high based on prior established performance. |
| Inactivity-Based Drops | A reason for drops is non-participation. Teams in regions with multiple tournaments available that have not competed have dropped in the rankings. Once these teams participate in an official tournament, they are immediately re-evaluated and can quickly move back up the board based on their results. |
| Competitive Regional Drops | Teams who competed in highly contested regional tournaments and failed to secure a top 3 finish or bid have seen drops or, in some cases, have fallen out of the Top 10 altogether. |
Looking Ahead: The Final Fall Stretch
The season is far from over! With five Fall tournaments remaining, the door is still wide open for major shifts:
- New teams have clear pathways to break into the Top 10 in both Girls and Coed divisions.
- Current teams who have seen a drop have immediate opportunities to participate and earn their way back up the rankings.
The race for the championships is officially heating up!
