St. Martin wins first Mississippi Girls’ Flag high school football championship

The first-ever Mississippi Girls Flag Football State Championship belongs to St. Martin High School after beating George County.

The first-ever Mississippi Girls Flag Football State Championship belongs to St. Martin High School. Saturday, the Yellow Jackets beat George County 18-0 to hoist the championship trophy.

The win caps the first-ever season of girls’ high school flag. In January, the Mississippi High School Activities Association, working with the New Orleans Saints, announced the official sanctioning of the sport. At the time, Mississippi became the 14th state to officially sanction the fast growing sport. Since then, the state of Washington has also sanctioned girls’ flag as a championship sport.
