The win caps the first-ever season of girls’ high school flag. In January, the Mississippi High School Activities Association, working with the New Orleans Saints, announced the official sanctioning of the sport. At the time, Mississippi became the 14th state to officially sanction the fast growing sport. Since then, the state of Washington has also sanctioned girls’ flag as a championship sport.
