The streak continues for the Central Red Devils from Phenix City.
Behind Mariah Harrison’s strong arm, Central beat Vestavia Hills 46-7 to win its third straight Alabama Class 6A-7A girls’ high school flag state title at Protective Stadium as part of the 30th annual Super 7 Championships in Birmingham. The victory was the 57th straight for Central.
Vestavia Hills jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but after that it was all Central.
Harrison, who threw four first-half touchdown passes, finished 13-of-24 passing for 243 yards. She also ran for 80 yards and a score.
“We’re always striving to be our best every single day,” Harrison told AHSAA.com.
Harrison’s tossed two TD pass to Savannah Sevier and one each to Amya Brooks and Colby Cook.
For the season, Harrison completed 245-of-382 passes for 3,941 yards and 80 TDs. Her top receiver was Sevier, who finishes with 43 TD catches on 97 receptions for 1,596 yards.
The girls’ flag state championships are played in conjunction with the boys’ tackle Super 7 championships.
