NFL FLAG has announced the finalists for this year’s Girls’ Player of the Year Award. The winner will be announced in February 2026 at NFL Honors before Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California.
According to the NFL FLAG website, “These athletes represent the best of NFL FLAG—excelling in competition, the classroom, and living the core values of the NFL: Respect, Integrity, Responsibility to Team, and Resiliency.”
Below are the finalists:
Anna Anderson, Missouri
Anderson, who played at Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Missouri, was the Kansas City Girls’ Flag Player of the Year. She’s a member of USA U17 national flag football team and will continue her playing career at Ottawa University in Kansas.
Sonya Chalil, Texas
Chalil, who will attended McNeil High School in Austin, Texas, helped lead the Houston Texans’ Texas Fury to the Girls’ High School Division championship at the NFL Flag Championships in Canton, Ohio. She nabbed an interception in the championship game.
Ava Rotondi, New York
As a member of the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea High School program, Rotondi was named first team All-CHSAA and was named second team All-State as a defensive back. As a junior, She caught 39 balls for 555 yards with 14 touchdowns. On defense, the defensive back picked off five passes, returning two for touchdowns. She also returned two punts for scores.
Kayla Tacker, Arizona
Tacker played at Casa Grande High School. Recently, she was named to the 2025 Fiesta Bowl All-State Flag Football Team as a defensive back.
Haylee Weatherspoon, California
In March, Weatherspoon, who played at Eagle Rock High School, took part in the Olympic Trials. She was one of the youngest athletes competing. She will continue to play collegiately, heading to Indiana to play at St. Francis University.
